That’s a wrap for season 2026!

And what a season it has been!  Our Under 9s have had a fantastic season, racking up the wins in the final weeks.  In true Lakers fashion they show resilience, teamwork and plenty of heart.  Each game is a full team effort and their skills are growing every week, showcasing all the hard work from training. Every player should be extremely proud of what they have achieved this season and we would also like to congratulate our recent award winners Jett, Beau, Xavier, Will, Logan, Dougie, Harry and Freddie.  A special mention also goes to Will for being awarded the Yarrambat Medal in their recent meeting.

We are thrilled to confirm our Under 11s team is finals bound!  They have just continued to dominate in recent games and although they couldn’t quite get the win over division leaders Greensborough, they still brought their usual high level of intensity, effort and work rate.  We would like to congratulate Ben and Jake on their recent 50th games milestone and also extend a big welcome to new teammates Jacob and Nathan W.  It is always difficult to single out players in this group of little legends but we would like to congratulate our recent award winners Jake, Jacko, Levi, Lach G, Van, Nathan W, Jacob, Liam, Nathan S, Jett and Harry.  We look forward to finals and wish them the best of luck!

Under 13s have shown so much growth and improvement in recent games.  They played against opponents who earlier in the season had beaten us by huge margins.  Fast forward to seasons’ end and these margins were reduced to mere points and a draw! This team is determined, driven with a real hunger to compete and it has been brilliant to watch this season.  We would like to congratulate Isla, Cian and Roy on their 50th games milestone and also recent award winners Conor, Campbell, Harry, Roy, Isla, Oscar, Cian and Jack.

Under 16s didn’t manage to record a win this season but the improvement in this team over the course of the season has been incredible.  Each week they show up as a united group and support each other regardless of the scoreboard.  They are consistently positive and determined and have continued to grow each week which has been evident by the smaller score margins.  Even opposing coaches have remarked on the difference in this team since the beginning of the season.  They have really started to come together as a playing group and there have been some brilliant passages of play over recent games.  Their final game was under lights against a very strong Hurstbridge side and even in the face of a heavy defeat they once again showcased their resilience and unbreakable mate ship and support, qualities that are the foundation of our club.  Results on the scoreboard will come with experience but this team has a very special quality that can’t be taught or trained.  We are very excited to see where this team are headed in 2026 with a full pre-season under their belt! We would like to congratulate Josh Carr on his recent 50th game milestone and also our recent game day award winners Jack, Josh, Vascoe, Lachlan, Lochaden, Robert, Oscar and Ethan.  We also extend a special mention to Mick Egan for his support throughout the season, his contributions to the team and the club have been invaluable and it has been an absolute pleasure having him share his wealth of knowledge with us!

On Sunday 27th July we hosted the TAC Safety Round.  We were honored to be joined by our fantastic local emergency services who took the time to support us and share the message of the importance of road safety and slowing down.  We would like to give a massive shoutout to our emergency services and friends including Kinglake SES, Kinglake CFA, Kinglake West CFA, Flowerdale CFA, Kinglake CERT, Victoria Police (Kinglake), Ambulance Victoria (Kinglake), Whittlesea Community Connections and UGFM Radio Murrindindi.  Also, a huge thankyou to our hardworking canteen helpers and other volunteers who helped the day run so smoothly in spite of the rain and mud!

If you have a child that would like to be part of our club in 2026, we are now actively recruiting and taking expressions of interest for the 2026 season which is shaping up to be huge.

Training has now concluded for the season, please keep an eye on our socials for updates regarding pre-season training for 2026 and all other news pertaining to the club.
