Preseason Update
We hope everyone has had an enjoyable holiday period and a chance to take some time to relax and catch up with family and friends.
During November and December, we had an extraordinary turnout of players at our pre- season training sessions. From all reports the kids had an awesome time training with their coaches and mates. Following the pre-season training sessions we’ve had pizza nights and end-of-year BBQs which were enjoyed by players and parents alike.
Our pre-season participation has been strong in all age groups. We are on track to field four teams this year; Under 9s, Under 11s, Under 13s and Under 16s. 2025 will be one of the biggest years ever for the Kinglake Junior Football Club!
There are still a few spare spots on each team for 2025. If you are interested in playing or would like to come and try a training session, please get in contact.
Since our last update we have made some impressive coaching announcements.
Mat Honey will coach our Under 9s team. Matt previously played for the Eltham Panthers and represented the Northern Knights as a junior. Matt will be a fantastic mentor to our youngest players and help them build their skills, learn, and have fun.
Mark will coach our Under 11s team. Mark was previously our Assistant Coach for the Under 10’s team and played junior footy for Craigieburn. Mark’s focus is on skills, fitness and fun, and continuing the improvement we saw last season in the Under 10’s team.
Rob Abboushi will coach our Under 13s team. Rob played more than 150 senior games and has three years coaching experience under his belt. Rob did an excellent job coaching our Under 10’s team last season and will be a great asset to the Under 13s team this year.
Mick Egan will join us as Director of Coaching for 2025. Mick brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having previously played over 100 games for the Footscray Bulldogs in the VFL and having represented Victoria. Mick previously coached Assumption College and the Kinglake seniors for ten seasons. Mick will be an incredible asset to the club, working closely with the coaches to help develop our players.
Our buildup to the 2025 season continues this month. Training will resume as follows:
Under 9s, 11s and 13s will recommence on Thursday 6th February at 5pm at Kinglake West Reserve.
Under 16s date and time will be advised shortly. Keep an eye on our Facebook page, and lookout for our emails for further updates.
Auskick will also run again this year for younger children aged 4-7. If you are interested in your child joining in, please contact Rebecca on 0423 629 241 for more information.
