History in the Making!

Several games into the season and we are so proud of all our junior teams. The energy around the club has been contagious as for the first time ever we fielded four sides.

Under 9s have played their first official games and it has been a fantastic debut. They have played with so much heart and really given it their all. It has been great to see the skills learned at training put into action on game days. Congratulations to award winners Carter, Dougie, Morgan, Will, Chris and Jett. An honorable mention also goes to Logan for his ripper of a goal in the debut round.

Under 11s team have come out showing real intent and hunger and although they haven’t come away with the chocolates just yet their well-rounded team work shows plenty of encouraging signs and promise. Congratulations to Jake B, Nathan S, Ben and Logan C for their best on ground awards.

Under 13s had a hard-fought battle in the rain and fog for their first game of the season and have continued to rack up the wins. The teamwork and effort shown by the entire team is just amazing. Congratulations to Wilbur, Will, Campbell, Dusty and Roy on their awards. It was very difficult to pick a standout each week as every player is just Dominating!

Under 16s were defeated in their first game but considering this is a side that has only just come together the sense of unity and resilience they have shown is fantastic. As club great Ryan Hurst told the team afterwards “We lost our first month or more by those margins when we started in the 18s then went on to win a game and play finals a year later”. Congratulations to Jack, Tayin and Lochaden for their best on ground Awards.

Off the field we have been working hard to champion a regular maintenance program for the oval. We have worked closely with council to develop a maintenance program with the focus now turning towards securing funding. During May we made a submission to Council urging them to allocate funds in their 2025/26 budget to allow for the implementation of the maintenance program. This was followed up with a petition to support our submission for which we received hundreds of signatures so we thank everyone who added their support. We have been invited to address council in person and will provide an update in the next issue.

Mayor Damien Gallagher also dropped into one of our Thursday night training sessions in May to take a look at all the great things happening around the club. With the kids enjoying their Thursday night meals and catching up with their team mates it was a great opportunity to showcase our culture and how we are so much more than just a footy club. We thank Mayor Gallagher and Councillors Jodi Adams and Eric Lording for their support to date and hope to see funding allocated in the near future to enable the proactive maintenance the ground requires.

We would like to extend our thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers, parents, players, coaches, umpires and sponsors whose contributions don’t go unnoticed. Our club would not be the same without you, you are the heart of our community! A special thankyou also goes to our wonderful sponsors whose support means that our kids can eat for free every Thursday after training.

Training continues weekly at the Kinglake Football Ground on Thursday nights for Auskick, Under 9s and Under 11s and Tuesday and Thursday nights for the Under 13s and Under 16s. Please check our socials for the latest club news and updates.

If you have a child who is interested in playing or training with us, or would just like to know more about our club, please get in contact. We are a family friendly football club and joining is a great way for kids to make new mates in the area and for families to meet other families. Our values of Team Building, Leadership and Community are at the heart of what we do.
